Readers can infer the author's perspective by subtle ways, such as diction and narration. Diction showed the author's choice of words while narration might show the author's personal commentaries and personality. Author's perspective can also be revealed by the author's emphasis on certain elements. For example, in And of Clay are We Created, the author focused on the changes and feelings of Rolf Carle, which showed that the author was sensitive and observant.
The author's perspective is as its name implies, the perspective of the author, or the author's point of view. THe author's perspective can be inferred from the diction and specific word choices of the author. For example, a critical author may use words such as irreparable and despair whereas a less critical author would use words of lighter connotation. An author's perspective can be sarcastic, happy, sad...etc.
The Authors perspective can be interpreted often through the bias of one or more of the characters. Often times, authors will give their personal values to characters with integrity and often, this is the main character. As we can see in the short story "And of Clay Are We Created", the actions of the main character show the inability of the government to help in many issues, which is also a view that Isabel Allende holds.
