Author's purpose is like the motivation of the writing, ideas are based on this, and authors were expressing them through their works.
Author's purposes vary in many ways, and thus influences the type of writing that is presented. For example, authors that aim to tell an event realistically would probably right an essay or newspaper article, whereas authors who want to persuade someone of something would write a persuasive essay. Authors may also try to tell stories, in which case the stories would be fiction. The author's purpose will therefore influence the way the reader approaches the writing.

During th Nazi occupation of the Netherlands, Anne kept a diary and wrote down what happened and all her feeling in her diary.
